Aghetto wants to offer a solution to the problem of accidental needle-stick injuries through the creation of a syringe which can be used safely with only one hand.

Aghetto syringe needs only one hand to detach the cap from the needle and the needle from the body of syringe: the other hand is free and can be used for other tasks (e.g. holding a medication’s vial or a venous/arterious cannula, disinfecting or - in veterinary medicine - to hold still the pet).

- Needle-stick injuries can transmit more than 20 blood-borne pathogens including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV) and more rarely, malaria.
